What is Powder Coating?
Powder coating refers to an electrostatic process of applying fine particles of pigment and resin to a metal surface. The powder coated pieces are then placed in oversized ovens to “cure”, resulting in a smooth and resilient coating.
How is Powder Coating different than Wet Coating?
Unlike wet coating applications, powder coating does not require a solvent to keep the binder and filler parts in a liquid suspension form. As such, there are no drying times needed.
Is Powder Coating better than Wet Painting?
Yes. The powder coating process results in a more durable, more chip-resistant finish, and looks so much better when it is finished!
What Imperfections Will Powder Coating Cover up?
Powder Coating will cover up most scratches and imperfections. The best quality finish will come from a smooth surface. Weld splatter, grind marks, tack welds, and poor craftsmanship will still show through.
How do Certain Areas Not get Covered if Needed?
For areas such as nut and bolt threads, either high temperature resistant tape, or rubber plugs are applied. We want to make sure you are able to be put your material(s) back together with no stress.
What is your Turnaround Time?
On average, turn around times can be 4-5 business days. With many different pieces coming to the shop, we will give an estimated turnaround time upon drop-off for your piece(s).
